Programming Coordinator

The Company

We are a residential training centre for the arts, located just outside the town of Bridgwater. We to offer a series of residential training courses for people working in the arts to access the training and skills needed to develop their careers. Courses range from specific skills and knowledge, artists talks and business training. Courses take place all year round and can be on a week or weekend basis. To complement courses we also run a series of other events – these can include exhibitions, lectures and screenings. We hire our facilities to other businesses or individuals for private events and can be adapted to meet a variety of needs.

 

The Role

As Programming Coordinator will assist in the development of the course programme. This role will involve researching the creative sector, contacting possible course teachers and developing course content. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and organising the course programme whilst working alongside our hospitality and marketing team to ensure course requirements are met and course information is accurate.

 

Job Specification

  • Work closely with your line manager and other staff to research and plan courses that meet the needs of both the creative community
  • Research and contact possible course leaders to arrange and develop the course offer
  • Plan course content using information from course leaders, ensure resource needs are met and arrange site visits when appropriate
  • Manage a continuing programme of short courses and schedule new courses
  • Compile information on course content, resources, attendee numbers and communicate with our marketing team to ensure website information is accurate and appropriate
  • Work alongside our Hospitality Coordinator to ensure course requirements and resources are met (e.g. studio spaces and accommodation)
  • Schedule courses throughout the year responding to key events, national trends, tutor availability and in house resources
  • Develop systems to ensure the smooth administration of information between Management, Programming, Hospitality and Marketing
  • Keep and maintain records on course content, attendees, strategic outcomes whilst ensuring data protection
  • Conduct market research into the changing skill requirements and training needs in creative communities and plan courses that respond
  • Collect and analyse data on the successfulness of courses and use findings to make continuing  improvements

 

About you

    • Have excellent administrative and IT skills, maintain accurate records that ensure data protection
    • Have some experience in managing or organising events/courses
    • Exhibit strong organisational skills including the ability to plan and schedule
    • Have a current working knowledge of the creative and training sector
    • Some experience in working alongside creative professionals or experience in the arts
    • Have some experience in conducting market research including compiling and analysing  data
    • Be professional in your communication with others, either via email, phone or through face to face interaction with the public
    • The ability to be flexible in meeting the various needs and operating hours of the business
    • Work well with other people, be able to take instruction and respond to changing business needs
    • Be able to take responsibility for planning and organising your own work, finding creative solutions to problems and integrate them into the business
    • Happy to help others with their work when things get busy, be flexible and be able to stay calm in stressful situations
    • Be able to work independently, be self motivated and able to maintain personal standards
    • Be organised and have excellent time keeping
    • Have a bright personality, optimistic outlook, good with people and a sense of humour
